We are often asked why we feel A.S.P.T. should be the certifying agency labs and hospitals would choose to certify their Phlebotomist or other health care professionals over other agencies. This is really easy to answer.
Many certification agencies do not have a practical phase of their examination. A.S.P.T. feels that the entire range of skills and knowledge needs to be tested.
Not all certification agencies require continuing education to maintain the certification. Six hours of continuing education yearly is mandatory with A.S.P.T.. Some agencies requiring continuing education will require as many CEUs from Phlebotomists or unlicensed health care workers as a Medical Technologist or a Registered Nurse. The problem we have found is the unlicensed person does not get the education to maintain job competence.
Most agencies provide one continuing education program to the certificant. Many agencies provide one program a year, which could be very far away. A.S.P.T. offers the greatest opportunity for the Phlebotomist and health care worker to maintain certification at the least overall cost to the health care worker and the institution.
A.S.P.T. specializes in helping the health care professional to develop into the best professional you can be. Opportunities to become involved are greater with us than any other agency.
Additional Certifications are available In: Point-of-Care Technician, EKG Technician, Drug Collection Specialist, Paramedical Insurance Examiner, and Patient Care Technician
